Amy Freeman

I am a Lead HR Consultant within the amazing SYLO | Beyond HR. team, supporting organisations with people‑focused guidance that is clear, practical and genuinely uplifting. I love partnering with clients — understanding their culture, challenges and ambitions — and helping them navigate people matters in a way that feels fair, human and commercially sound.

I am a commercially aware HR lead with over 15 years’ experience as an HR contractor, working with businesses of all shapes and sizes across multiple sectors, both nationally and internationally. That variety has shaped my ability to adapt quickly, understand different organisational pressures, and deliver solutions that work in the real world — not just on paper.

My specialisms include Employee Relations, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Talent Planning. These areas energise me because they sit at the heart of creating workplaces where people feel safe, valued and able to thrive. I am known for being calm, pragmatic and positive, bringing clarity and confidence even to the most complex situations.

I am also genuinely excited about how Artificial Intelligence is transforming the future of work. I love exploring how it can streamline processes, enhance employee experiences and open up more innovative, human‑centred ways of working.

Q. What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?

A. It is a close call between skydiving and black water rafting — I love an adrenaline rush (everything except bungee jumping!). Although truthfully, it is probably more dangerous wandering through cow fields or peat bogs on my hikes. Nature always keeps me on my toes!

Q. Who or what makes you laugh?

A. My friends, my family, my doggo — and especially my chickens. Their personalities are endlessly entertaining. Watching them potter, squabble and confidently run the garden is both heart‑warming and absolutely hilarious.

What our clients are saying

  • SYLO Beyond HR delivered a series of seven Manager Skills sessions for our leadership team between October 2024 and early 2025, delivered through a blend of face‑to‑face and online workshops.
The programme covered essential topics for our managers, including Being a Role Model, Communication Skills (Parts 1 & 2), Empowering Others, Basics of HR, Techniques for Handling Difficult Situations, and Giving and Receiving Feedback.
The training was practical, engaging, and tailored to our organisation. Our managers particularly valued the real‑world examples, the safe space created for discussion, and the actionable tools they could use immediately in their roles.
We have already seen a positive impact in how our managers communicate, set expectations, and handle challenging situations with greater confidence.
SYLO’s facilitators were knowledgeable, supportive, and highly engaging throughout the programme. We would happily recommend SYLO Beyond HR to any organisation looking to strengthen their management capability.

  • The wonderful support from SYLO Beyond HR has enabled us to ensure our foundations are in place to support growth, whilst also maintaining and driving the culture that is important for us to have in place.  They have truly worked in partnership with us and provide consistent support to help us drive priorities forward.

It’s great to have an HR partner that feels part of our team, is available for whenever something comes up and that continues to work with us as our organisation grows.

  • I found working with SYLO incredibly comfortable.  They helped me to define the real issues and then guided me through figuring out a solution. This resulted in a huge shift in the workload I was carrying to manageable levels, greater and welcomed empowerment for the talent in my team, and a manager (mine) who was fully up to speed on what was actually going on.

  • Thanks to Jilli Broadhurst from SYLO | Beyond HR for visiting the Richardsons’ office last week for a CPD session with the team.

She led the Richardsons team in a session that covered adapting their communications approach to have the best possible interactions with colleagues, peers and clients.

The session also covered other key skills such as tactics for providing constructive feedback and effectively delegating.

Here at Richardsons, we’re proud to be an experienced training firm – and an important part of that commitment is offering our team these kinds of opportunities to learn the skills they need to grow their careers and better support our clients.

Thanks again to Jilli and SYLO HR!
